Dr. Mohd Sheriff:

"He was one of the closest friends of our former President 

Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. On receiving the news of his demise, Mr Kalam visited his house in Kannar St, Manamadurai, to offer his condolences. (This was before his becoming President. He was then in the tenures of PM's scientific advisor & DRDO etc.)

He was the only teacher in our school who had possessed a

doctorate. His doctoral subject was history. For this remarkable achievement, he was felicitated at our school in a grand manner."

இவ்வரிய கருத்துப் பகிர்வுக்கு நாம் யாவரும் திரு. சுகுமாரன் ஐயாவுக்கு மிக்க நன்றிக்கடன்பட்டுள்ளோம்...! 

PS: He was in USSR for translation-related works for 7-8 yes; many Soviet books bear testimony to this. (He was suffering from breathing-related illness & passed away in 1997 November, before his retirement from teacher's service, acc. to his nephew Er. Shahul Hamid, our SA member).
